The Los Angeles Chargers have signed quarterback Justin Herbert to a multi-year contract extension. Since being selected with the sixth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Herbert has become one of the top quarterbacks in the league, setting numerous records in his young career.

Herbert holds several NFL and team records, including most completions, passing yards, combined touchdowns, and 300-yard games over the first three seasons of a career. He is also the only player in history to top 4,000 passing yards in each of his first three seasons and one of only two players to begin a career with three consecutive seasons of 25-plus touchdown passes.

In 2021, Herbert led the Chargers to a playoff appearance and set franchise records with 38 passing touchdowns and 5,014 passing yards. He was named the AFC starter for the 2022 Pro Bowl and earned Offensive Most Valuable Player recognition in the game.

Before joining the NFL, Herbert played college football at the University of Oregon. He appeared in 44 games over four seasons (2016-19), finishing his career as the program’s all-time record holder in completions, attempts, and ranking second in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and 300-yard performances.

During his senior season, Herbert led the Ducks to a Pac-12 Championship and orchestrated a come-from-behind win over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. He rushed for three touchdowns and won Rose Bowl MVP honors. Herbert was also awarded the William V. Campbell Trophy, also known as the Academic Heisman, and was named a second-team All-Pacific-12 selection by The Associated Press.

After being drafted by the Chargers in 2020, Herbert quickly established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
