Damar Hamlin, a safety for the Buffalo Bills, is expected to return to play in the team’s game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, October 2. This will be Hamlin’s first game since he suffered a cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, 2023.
Hamlin Overcomes Difficult Recovery
In his rookie season, he played in 14 games and recorded a total of 73 tackles. In his second season, he played in 16 games and recorded a total of 94 tackles.Hamlin is a talented and promising safety. He is a well-respected member of the Bills’ locker room and the Buffalo community.
Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during the game against the Bengals after being hit in the chest. He was given CPR on the field and was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with commotio cordis, a rare condition that can be caused by a blunt blow to the chest.
Hamlin spent 9 days in the hospital before being released on January 11. He began his comeback shortly after and was cleared to participate in football activities in April. He participated in team drills in June and was a full participant in training camp in August.
Hamlin To Return To Play On Sunday
Hamlin played in all three of the Bills’ preseason games, but he was inactive for the team’s first three regular-season games. With starting safety Jordan Poyer ruled out due to a knee injury, Hamlin is expected to play on Sunday.
